From mid-April to early May each year is the best time to admire tung blossoms, as they bloom across the country. Although many Hakka Tung Blossom Festival events have been canceled due to the pandemic, including the Miaoli Tung Blossom Festival, the "Summer Snow" landscape art outside the Taiwan Hakka Cultural Museum uses bamboo skewers to create the imagery of tung blossoms on the ground, attracting many visitors to take photos with its enchanting ambiance.

The Council of Hakka Affairs specially invited artist You Wen-Fu to create the "Summer Snow" landscape art at the outdoor stairway plaza of the Taiwan Hakka Cultural Park. With the theme of "Tung Blossoms on the Ground," it uses natural elements like bamboo and earth to interpret the scene of tung blossoms fallen on the ground, forming a vast carpet like a snowy landscape.

Stairs lined with pink-and-white gradient bamboo skewers.

The "Summer Snow" landscape uses 100,000 bamboo skewers dyed in pink and snow white, arranged in gradients across the plaza’s 12 levels of stairs, presenting the feeling of tung blossoms’ pure white petals to pink flower stamens. Each bamboo skewer resembles a fallen tung blossom, creating a dreamy atmosphere of strolling through a tung blossom forest with the sea of skewers.

The sea of bamboo skewers creates a dreamy floral forest ambiance.

Under the sunlight of blue skies and white clouds, walking through the skewer sea feels like stepping into a romantic May snow tung blossom forest, experiencing the artist’s creative concept that “tung blossoms are not just flowers, but an infinite imagination and beauty of a season.” Meanwhile, the tung blossoms at the Taiwan Hakka Cultural Museum have also begun to bloom.
