The vibrant and gorgeous jacaranda flowers are in full bloom across southern Taiwan. Their large peach-pink and white blossoms, much bigger than cherry blossoms, are no less stunning when in full flower and even more fragrant. Popular jacaranda viewing spots in Tainan, such as the Yushan Baoguang Sanctuary, and near Fuan Elementary School in Kaohsiung, attract many tourists for photos and check-ins.

The Yushan Baoguang Sanctuary is a place of worship for the Yi Guan Dao faith. It has planted about 300 jacaranda trees, which have been introduced gradually over the past 15 years. Blooming every year from March to April, they have become an important landmark along Provincial Highway 20 and have helped establish a new cherry blossom–like viewing spot locally.

Traveling south along Provincial Highway 20 toward the Nanhua Reservoir and Jiashian, as you enter the starting point of the South Cross-Island Highway, you will definitely see this magnificent golden temple. Inside the temple are giant sculptures, wall carvings, and other decorations, including the exquisite relief of the “Along the River During the Qingming Festival,” a must-see highlight.
