Houli is located at the northern tip of Taichung City. No. 8 Tunnel is located next to the Tai’an Railway Culture Park in Houli, Taichung. It lies along the Old Mountain Line, passing by the Zhenzhuan Bridge. This railway has a history of 100 years, stretching 518.6 meters in length. Due to its remote location and overgrown weeds, exploring the Old Mountain Line’s No. 8 Tunnel requires first pushing through layers of wild vegetation. The lush plant life enhances the tunnel’s unique atmosphere, resembling the fantastical world one enters after passing through the tunnel in the movie "Spirited Away."

The former Tai’an Station in Houli was repurposed as a railway culture park after the Old Mountain Line of the Western Trunk Line ceased operations in September 1998. Ironically, its closure attracted more visitors, turning it into a popular tourist destination. Beyond the nostalgic charm of the old tracks, the Flower-Truss Steel Bridge showcases the exquisite craftsmanship of Japanese colonial-era architecture. In autumn and winter, when maple leaves turn golden and drift onto the tracks, it offers an even more picturesque and romantic scene.

The Dajiaxi Iron Bridge once served as a vital transport route for goods between Japan and southern regions, combining structural strength with elegant design. Its lower structure consists of concrete block-stone caissons, while the bridge piers are made of brick-angle stones — a rare example of transportation-based industrial artistry. Viewed from afar, the bridge stands majestically, while the stone and green grass below lend an autumnal, slightly desolate feel.

Located in the Zhongshe Sightseeing Flower Market in Houli, Taichung, this garden spans a sea of flowers across 6 hectares. Blooming in vibrant colors throughout all four seasons, it resembles the lavender fields of Provence in southern France. These colorful flower fields are must-photo spots for Instagram.
