As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, people are advised to reduce outings and avoid enclosed public spaces. If you must go out, head to less crowded outdoor areas. This hidden tea plantation not only lets travelers escape the city noise but also offers dreamy, healing sceneries to enjoy and photograph, making it a very soothing experience.

Located on Haishu Mountain in Meishan, Chiayi, at an altitude of 1,314 meters, the scenic area boasts beautiful landscapes. The mountaintop viewing platform, Haishu Mountain Lookout, takes its name from the altitude – “1314 Lookout,” which sounds like “1314” (meaning “one life, one lifetime” in Chinese), similar to “a lifetime of love.”

The lookout has become a romantic photo spot on Instagram. Next to it, a love tower featuring the phrase “I love you” in multiple languages makes it an ideal place for couples to take sweet photos or make confessions.

The 360-degree panoramic view from the top of Haishu Mountain offers sweeping vistas of Alishan, Dajian and Xiaojiann Mountains, and Bihu Mountain. If you visit at the right time, you can even catch the sunrise over the sea of clouds in the tea fields or admire the sunset and evening glow – truly a refreshing experience.

The modest-looking 1314 Lookout, originally called Haishu Mountain Lookout, set against the blue sky and green tea fields, evokes the pure and sweet feeling of first love.
