The Daxue Mountain National Forest Recreation Area is brimming with spring vibes, as the Misho Zakura in front of the Visitor Center at Km 43 have burst into bloom. Their snow-white petals, fluttering like little bell-shaped flowers in the wind and scattering across the ground, look just like spring snow in March, and it’s also currently bird breeding season—birds are showing off all their courtship skills, making it a truly worthwhile sight.

Daxue Mountain Misho Zakura

The Misho Zakura is a precious endemic cherry blossom species in Taiwan, also known as the Misho Mountain Cherry. It blooms with small, white flowers that resemble snowflakes. Each year, after the vibrant native mountain cherry blossoms fade, the Misho Zakura begins to bloom quietly and elegantly, exuding a fresh and refined beauty. Its gracefully shaped trees are covered with thousands of pure white blossoms, set against the surrounding lush greenery—it’s a breathtaking sight.

Daxue Mountain encompasses warm, temperate, and cold forest zones, and the area is rich in flora and fauna. When spring arrives and flowers bloom, it’s also a great time for birdwatching. As you stroll through the woods, take a moment to listen to the birds’ melodious calls and spot their beautiful figures—walk through the forest together with the birds.
