Where’s the best place to enjoy the moon during the Mid-Autumn Festival? The Kaohsiung Harbor Company will add special Mid-Autumn “Harbor Cruise & Moon-Gazing” flights on the evenings of September 10 and 11 at 8 PM, allowing the public to take a romantic moonlit cruise on the sea. Booking and seat reservations are open from now until the 9th.

Zhang Qingquan, chairman of the Kaohsiung Harbor Company, said that the Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional folk holiday for family reunions. In recent years, it has become popular for people to celebrate by having barbecues. He hopes the public will take advantage of the cool and pleasant autumn weather during this golden season to head outdoors, explore Kaohsiung Harbor, and enjoy its unique romantic moonlight. Zhang also noted that the operation policy of the sightseeing cruises has shifted to a “seafood feast” model in the evenings daily. The regular weekend harbor cruises that operated until the end of July have been canceled. To meet the demand for harbor exploration during the Mid-Autumn holiday, special flights have been added on the evenings of both weekends during the holiday at 8 PM, catering to those who wish to enjoy both the moon and the harbor.

The ticket price for the Mid-Autumn “Harbor Cruise & Moon-Gazing” flights is a flat rate of NT$150 per person, and includes guided tours by volunteer guides as well as live band performances. Passengers can enjoy the band’s music on the cruise deck while taking in the cool, moonlit harbor night.
