The upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival holiday is just around the corner, and exciting events are planned across various cities and counties. This year, Taichung’s “Taichung Moon Crown” Mid-Autumn Gala is making its debut by combining with the Greater Taichung Food Carnival. The event will take place on Mid-Autumn Day, September 12th, from 3:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Plaza of the New Taichung City Hall. With elements of international appeal, heritage, family fun, entertainment, and culture, the public is welcome to join in the celebration.

Taichung Mayor Hu Ziqiang stated that the “Taichung Moon Crown” has been held for 12 years and has become part of the lives of local citizens. This year, with the merger of Greater Taichung’s cities and counties, the union symbolizes reunion. Therefore, the event is specially combined with the Greater Taichung Food Carnival. The mayor hopes that besides enjoying delicious mooncakes during the Mid-Autumn Festival, people will also pair them with a good cup of tea. Mayor Hu emphasized that the best tea in the world comes from Taichung — aside from Li Shan tea exported to mainland China, there's also bubble tea, which has gained worldwide fame. Whether produced or sold in Taichung, efforts will be made to further promote it, aiming to make bubble tea an indispensable treat for all Chinese celebrating Mid-Autumn.

This year’s event draws inspiration from the moon and “tapioca pearls” (commonly known as boba), incorporating Taichung’s world-renowned bubble tea into the theme and naming it the “Greater Taichung Bubble Tea Festival.” By merging the two most representative events and foods of Greater Taichung, it aims to deliver a fresh experience to the public across Taiwan. The Mid-Autumn Gala features an impressive lineup of performances, hosted by the popular food duo 2MORO from the show “Foodie Family,” and will include performances by artists such as Afu (Deng Fu-ru), J.Law (Yen-J), MATZKA, and HOT SHOCK. There will also be performances by the Taichung Chinese Music Princess Troupe and Ukrainian festival dances from Lihpao Moonworld.

In addition, the Greater Taichung Bubble Tea Festival on the afternoon of Mid-Autumn Day will feature a collaboration with eleven tea vendors, allowing the public to sample the delights of bubble tea. On the day, 1,000 free cups of bubble tea and 2,000 mooncakes will be given out to attendees, inviting citizens to come together for mooncakes, tea, and a joyful Mid-Autumn celebration.
