The Pingtung County Indigenous Affairs Office will hold the creative exhibition event "Millet Home Escape ~ Market Stroll" at the "Indigenous Cultural Park" on February 25. Lasting for 10 days until March 4, the event will share fun, delicious, and beautiful indigenous industries and cultural activities every day!

Grown in Pingtung’s indigenous villages, "red quinoa" is known as the "red gem." According to research by Professor Tsai Bi-ren of National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, its nutritional content and benefits are superior to other grains, making it an excellent health food. Pingtung County has also been working with private companies to develop foods such as red quinoa steamed buns, red quinoa rice balls, and red quinoa cookies. Moreover, red quinoa is also an essential ingredient in brewing millet wine. Every spring, along Provincial Highways 37, 26, and 185, you can witness the stunningly varied beauty of its growth—from tender green, bright green, and vivid red to dark purple, then golden yellow, and finally sunset red.

Pingtung County Magistrate Tsao Chi-hung said that after Typhoon Morakot, the tribal settlements were established in the Linali Village, Changzhi Lily Park, Xinlaiyi Village, and Wulaluzi Village. "This is not 'running away from home'," but rather taking root in the original indigenous territories and bringing the traditional crop—red quinoa—to the villages to share this premium grain with friends around the world. He hopes the event will showcase the first fruits of cultural and industrial reconstruction after Typhoon Morakot, and allow the outside world to see the depth and resilience of the indigenous people!

On February 25, at the "Indigenous Cultural Park," eight indigenous townships in Pingtung County will compete in an indigenous music and dance competition as the opening event. The winning team will represent Pingtung County in the National Indigenous Peoples Games. In the following days, there will be a "One Township, One Industry" themed farmers' market at the Changzhi Lily Village, a creative market for indigenous crafts at the Linali Village, and an indigenous-themed children's play experience area, ensuring all visitors have a great time.

The closing ceremony on March 4 will also feature a "Flower Crown Creation Competition" using the event’s star—the "red quinoa"—as the theme.
