The globally cherished classic film "The Sound of Music," whose well-known songs have been translated and sung worldwide, will be authentically performed in what is considered the most faithful rendition of the film's soundtrack in Taiwan at the “Encounter True Beauty and Kindness” concert on April 14th at 7:00 PM at the Fulfillment Amphitheater in Taichung City.

Taiwan Mobile and the Taichung City Cultural Affairs Bureau have jointly invited conductor Chiang Chin-bo to lead the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Time, together with top local soprano Yijia Chan, to perform the classic songs of "The Sound of Music" exactly as they were in the film, at the Fulfillment Amphitheater in Taichung. Ruan Shuxiang, head of Public Affairs at Taiwan Mobile, stated that obtaining the authorization to use the original film soundtrack was an extremely challenging process, with application restrictions rarely seen in Taiwan. Not only must the performance follow the original score note-for-note, but the use of purely instrumental pieces from the full musical is limited to just four, making this concert the most complete and officially authorized version of "The Sound of Music" ever presented in Taiwan.

This concert also invites children across Taiwan who know how to sing "Do-Re-Mi" to join the joyful sing-along inspired by "The Sound of Music." Children who sign up to perform can receive a special gift bag while supplies last. For registration, call 02-6636-1527. Notably, the concert will also feature a special performance by the Alishan Youth Choir during intermission, singing songs of the Tsou tribe. These children were eyewitnesses to the devastation caused by Typhoon Morakot, which heavily damaged their hometowns. Now, through music, they are rebuilding their spirits and singing songs of love and hope for the land of their ancestors.

The 1959 Broadway production of "The Sound of Music" won six Tony Awards and became a global sensation after its 1964 film adaptation, earning five Academy Awards and becoming one of the highest-grossing films of all time. Christopher Plummer, the veteran actor who portrayed Captain von Trapp and left a lasting impression on audiences, also won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor this year at the age of 82. The international acclaim and worldwide audience praise all add to the immense anticipation for this spring concert.
