The Nanbei Gate coastal area in Tainan boasts abundant natural ecology and cultural resources, and has even been recommended by the Michelin Travel Guide. This one-day tour connects attractions such as Nankunshen Daitian Temple, Shuangchun Coastal Recreation Area, the Blackfoot Disease Memorial Park, Beimen Visitor Center, Qianlaiye, and Jingzijiao Salt Fields, with guided interpreters providing detailed insights at each site. There are three sessions in total, scheduled for July 21, August 4, and August 18.

Jingzijiao Tile-Pond Salt Field was formerly known as the “Laidong Salt Farm,” and got its name “Jingzijiao” (literally “Footwell Leg”) because groundwater emerged near a small sand dune, forming a well-like pattern. (Image provided by MOOK Editorial Department)

Nankunshen Daitian Temple, a Michelin 3-Star must-see attraction, has a history of over 300 years. Its grand architectural scale is unmatched across Taiwan and it is also the island’s oldest temple dedicated to the Worship of the Lords. It has been designated as a national historic site. The Shuangchun Coastal Recreation Area is a comprehensive eco-recreation zone, featuring a mangrove observation area that includes four precious native Taiwanese mangrove species: Kandelia obovata, Rhizophora stylosa, Lumnitzera racemosa, and Lumnitzera littorea. Meanwhile, the Jingzijiao Salt Field in Beimen Township is the oldest existing tile-pond salt field in Taiwan that still practices manual salt drying, with a history of about 200 years. Under the sunlight, the colorful salt pans create a unique scenic view of the salt-producing region.
