This summer, when visiting Hong Kong, in addition to enjoying the various promotions and events of the Hong Kong Summer Fest, you can also take a ride on the traditional Chinese sailing junk “Cheung Po Tsai” from July 3 to explore Victoria Harbour and other local attractions. The “Victoria Harbour Discovery Cruise” runs every Tuesday and Friday, from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm. The junk sails around Tsim Sha Tsui, Central, Wan Chai, or Aberdeen every hour, allowing passengers to either stay on board to enjoy the scenery or disembark for sightseeing. With the same-day cruise ticket, unlimited boarding and disembarking are permitted. The fare is HK$100 (approx. NT$390) for adults and HK$80 (approx. NT$312) for children.

Cheung Po Tsai is a red-masted wooden junk meticulously handcrafted over 18 months by veteran shipbuilders using traditional shipbuilding techniques. It may be the last traditionally designed and hand-built three-masted Chinese wooden junk in Hong Kong. With its classic Chinese red masts, the 28-meter-long junk offers up to 1,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor activity space. The junk is named after the infamous 19th-century pirate Cheung Po Tsai, who once dominated the southern waters of China, and celebrates his legendary story.

The Victoria Harbour Discovery Cruise stops at attractions including Tsim Sha Tsui, Central, Wan Chai, and Aberdeen. At the world-famous Avenue of Stars in Tsim Sha Tsui, visitors can see the handprints of movie celebrities and a full-sized statue of Bruce Lee, as well as enjoy panoramic views of Hong Kong Island across the waterfront promenade. Central, the economic hub of Hong Kong Island, offers access to the historic Peak Tram, where you can admire the renowned Victoria Peak night view. Visitors can also ride the world’s longest covered escalator to explore the trendy streets of SoHo.
