Want to see—or even touch—wreckage from ships lost in World War I and II beneath the surface? Then Guam is the place to go. The Tokai Maru and SMS Cormoran are the only known dive site in the world featuring wrecks from both wars. These sunken ships are exceptional dive spots in their own right and absolutely a once-in-a-lifetime pilgrimage for diving enthusiasts.

When it comes to famous dive sites in Guam, none is more renowned than the Blue Hole. This roughly 18-meter-deep fissure leads to an breathtaking underwater wonderland. The area offers excellent visibility, allowing divers to weave through underwater caves and spot large tuna, unicornfish, and reef sharks. Additionally, Cocos Island and Coral Garden are popular spots for exploring coral reef ecosystems. At Cocos Island, drift diving lets you glide over vast coral formations and marine life. As the name suggests, Coral Garden features massive coral structures that resemble an underwater garden.

Even beginners without a diving license will find Guam an ideal place for their first dive experience. For example, diving at Fish Eye Park requires no license and is perfect for a trial dive—anyone can easily take the plunge under the guidance of a professional instructor. Enjoy sightings of butterflyfish, sevenband grouper, and barracuda, and even wave to visitors inside the underwater observatory. Experienced divers might consider heading to the 11-Mile Reef for a first close encounter with sharks. Other featured dive sites include the American Tanker, Gun Beach, Gab Gab, Gab Gab II, Anae Island, and Pete’s Reef.
