Bicycle tourism is becoming increasingly popular. Originally, passengers had to pay a checked baggage fee of NT$167 per kilogram when bringing a bicycle on Air Busan flights. Starting September 1, Air Busan has introduced a policy allowing bicycles to be checked in for free, permitting up to 10 bicycles per flight to be transported without charge. This allows travelers who want to take their bikes abroad to avoid worrying about extra fees. Based on Air Busan’s special promotional fare of NT$3,999 in September (before surcharges), plus fuel surcharges and airport taxes totaling NT$6,754, simply call Air Busan 24 hours before departure to reserve round-trip bicycle checked baggage, and you can travel with your bike for less than NT$7,000 in airfare alone!

Busan has an extensive network of bicycle lanes. To make cycling more convenient for residents, seven free bicycle rental stations have been set up in areas such as Samnak Riverside Sports Park in Saha District. Foreign tourists can also rent a bike for free by simply showing their passport. Air Busan General Manager Lee Kyung-min also recommends two of the most popular local cycling routes: one that follows along Haeundae/Yeongdo River, Gwangalli Beach, and the Nambu-dong Seaside Murals Street to arrive at Ipo-dong Euljiro Park, and another starting from the Seoyeong 2 Bridge, passing through Seoyeong Bridge, APEC Peace Park, Left Seoyeong Bridge, Seoyeong 4 Bridge/Gwajeong Bridge, Won-dong Bridge, and Dongcheon Bridge — a total round trip of 16 kilometers taking about 50 minutes.

Busan is a port city located at the southern tip of South Korea and is the country’s second-largest city after Seoul. In the suburbs, Haeundae and Gwangalli are well-known resort areas, with beautiful beaches lined with high-end hotels. You can also take the subway to Dongnae Hot Springs to enjoy thermal baths close at hand. For those who enjoy tradition, visiting markets to explore a wide array of Korean street food and sampling freshly caught sashimi is a must. Events such as the annual Busan International Film Festival and the Busan Fireworks Festival attract large crowds of tourists, and both are coming up in October.
