After the U.S. visa exemption, many travel agencies have launched discounted packages. The Hawaii Tourism Bureau’s Taiwan office has partnered with China Airlines to offer three direct-charter flights to Hawaii. For the first flight departing on January 31st, they are introducing for the first time a “Love Pledge Ceremony,” which is a traditional Hawaiian Polynesian wedding ceremony. It is targeted at some mature couples who were unable to travel abroad for their honeymoon in the past due to various reasons, or couples who have always wanted to get married overseas but were restricted by tradition. They can come to Hawaii to renew their vows of love and enjoy a “second honeymoon” at the same time.

Passengers joining the inaugural “Fall in Love with Hawaii All Over Again” package will each receive a complimentary high tea at the premium five-star Moana Surfrider Hotel (worth NT$1,200), courtesy of the Hawaii Tourism Bureau. In addition, the bureau has gone to great lengths to reserve the entire Kualoa Ranch and hire Hawaiian elders to exclusively conduct the “Love Pledge Ceremony” for passengers on this charter flight. The 7-day, 5-night package is priced at NT$79,900 including taxes and fees.

The ceremony begins as the couples step barefoot onto the flower-strewn beach. Under the witness of the blue sea and sky, hula dancers lead the procession, accompanied by the Hawaiian wedding song — Elvis Presley’s “Blue Hawaii” played on the ukulele. The elder then presides over and conducts a series of rituals. The most touching moment comes when the couples press their foreheads and noses together, exchanging breaths, and pledge to spend their lives together.
