Vast, colorful flower fields, 10 major floral art exhibition areas, distinctive floral zones from Nantou’s 13 townships, as well as natural flower-viewing spots scattered throughout Nantou will all be featured in the Nantou Flower Carnival, which kicks off on December 16. This year’s event features activities such as Nantou Floral Agents, Check-in at Flower Spots for Benefits, where participants can upload photos and check in to win cash or souvenirs. There will also be a Flower Tour Nantou lottery and a Dream Flower Goddess election. The Dream Flower Goddess election will see popular online celebrities Chicken Cutlet Girl, A Xi, and An Xiaoqiao compete for the title of Flower Goddess. Voters will have the chance to join a free “Goddess Cute Special Tour” guided by the Flower Goddess and explore the Nantou Flower Carnival together.

The event runs from December 16 to January 20, 2013, with the main flower sea covering 20 hectares, including two areas: Chihding Farm next to Puli Putai High School and the Puli Flower Logistics Center. In addition to the exhibition areas planned by the county government, Chihding Farm also sees participation from nearby operator Tai Yih Ecological Leisure Farm, which has created three thousand Yaezakura cherry blossom trees, one thousand tree grape trees, a pumpkin area, and a greenhouse strawberry area, further expanding and enriching the Nantou Flower Carnival. The natural flower-viewing spots scattered across Nantou’s various townships are also a highlight this year. From December through March of next year, various town-specific flowers—including plum blossoms, cherry blossoms, peach blossoms, camellias, and peonies—will bloom in succession. Moreover, a Flower Viewing Information Station will be launched this year to provide real-time updates on flower conditions. The five major flower zones in Nantou—Puli, Xinyi, Ren’ai, Lugu, and Zhushan—can be monitored anytime via the event’s official website for flower conditions and weather, allowing for worry-free travel planning to enjoy the blooms.

During the event period, various townships in Nantou County will also hold a series of local activities, such as Puli Town’s Charming Samba FUN Puli, Caotun Town’s Countryside Fun Fantasy, Jiji Town’s Flower and Fruit Picking Joyride, Xinyi Township’s Lona Christmas Night Gala, Snow-Shoeing and Plum-Blossom-Seeking Series, Caotun Head Cherry Blossom Season, Ren’ai Township’s Qingjing New Year’s Eve Countdown, Yuchi Township’s Orchid Township Red Blossoms Welcoming Spring, Zhushan Township’s Shanlinxi Peony Flower Season, and Guoxing Township’s Bigfoot Marathon—totaling over 10 local specialty events. The entire Nantou region becomes a lively carnival, with floral sights to enjoy and activities to take part in everywhere. For detailed event information, visit: travel.nantou.gov.tw/2012flower.
