Cherry blossom seasons across Taiwan are gradually coming to an end, but a few spots will remain in bloom until April. Aside from the secret Fuji cherry blossom spot on Shengde Road in Taoyuan, there’s also a blossoming cherry blossom promenade at Wushantou Reservoir in Tainan. A whole row of delicate pink trees, along with petals scattered on the ground, carpets the asphalt road in a layer of pink, creating an incredibly romantic scene!

This incredibly dreamy row of cherry blossom trees is the most iconic “Southern Yulan” at Wushantou Reservoir. These cherry trees are actually over 80 years old, planted personally by Yoichi Hatta—the father of the Chianan Irrigation System—and his wife, giving them great historical significance. Today, they form a breathtaking view at Wushantou Reservoir. The sight of Southern Yulan blossoms swaying in the wind attracts many visitors each year who come to capture photos and witness this beautiful scenery.

Southern Yulan blossoms usually begin blooming in mid-March and continue until the end of the month. Now is the perfect time to visit Wushantou Reservoir to admire their beauty. Strolling along the promenade covered in a pink floral carpet, the romance level is off the charts—visitors should make sure to catch the bloom while it lasts.

Currently, the discounted entrance fee to Wushantou Scenic Area is just NT$60, originally valid until March 29. However, considering the severe COVID-19 situation, and in line with epidemic prevention measures, the water recreation facilities at Wushantou are planned to reopen in May. The current NT$60 discounted ticket may also be extended until the end of April.
