The 2013 Hakka 12 Major Festivals “Six Stacks God of Land Cultural Arts Festival” Cannon Fortress Attack Competition is now open for registration until February 7. This year, a new “Six Stacks Volunteer Army Cannon Fortress Attack” event has been added. Meanwhile, the top prize for the Yunxiao Cannon Fortress Attack competition includes NT$100,000 provided by the organizer plus an additional NT$50,000 from the Kaohsiung-Pingtung District International Rotary Club, totaling NT$150,000.

Pingtung County- Hakka Affairs Office stated that the “Six Stacks God of Land Cultural Arts Festival” will be held on February 23 and 24 at the Pingtung County Stadium. This year’s Cannon Fortress Attack includes five events: Parent-Child Challenge, Beginner’s Try (Cannon Fortress Experience), Castle Cannon Fortress Attack, Yunxiao Cannon Fortress Attack, and Six Stacks Volunteer Army Fortress Attack. For competition rules, please visit the official event website at http://goo.gl/4NJRK or the Hakka Affairs Office website. The Six Stacks Volunteer Army Cannon Fortress Attack is divided into Governmental Group and International Group, with five participants per team. The former is open to teams from various government agencies and schools; the latter invites international participants, with no fewer than two foreigners per team.

The Kaohsiung-Pingtung District International Rotary Club stated that to encourage participants to aim for the highest score, the sponsored NT$50,000 is only awarded to the team that throws a ball into the 12-meter-high cannon cage and wins first place. If no team succeeds in hitting the 12-meter cannon cage, the prize will not be awarded. It is understood that in the past, the top-prize Yunxiao Cannon Fortress Attack did not have any team hit the 12-meter cannon cage for two consecutive years in 2010 and 2011, but in 2012, five teams managed to do so. This year’s competition for the Yunxiao Cannon Fortress Attack is expected to be fiercely competitive.
