The “Opera Anywhere Gate,” organized by the National Center for Traditional Arts, will take place from March 1 to 24 at the Gangshan Cultural Center, offering events and performances over 24 consecutive days. The participating groups comprise 10 traditional theater troupes, including the Taiwan Bangzi Opera Troupe, Kaohsiung Opera Troupe, Jinfeifeng Puppet Theater Troupe, and Kaohsiung Shadow Puppet Theater Troupe. The program includes 38 educational promotion sessions on theatrical arts, 4 special performances, and 4 traditional opera workshops. Except for the workshops, all events are free to attend.

The art education promotion activities align with the Kaohsiung City Bureau of Education’s “Arts in the Countryside” initiative, offering diverse courses in various performance genres such as glove puppetry, TV puppets, Taiwanese opera, Bangzi opera, shadow puppetry, and puppet theater. Special performances on March 2, 9, 16, and 23 will feature works including the puppet play “The Failing Tiger Auntie,” the Bangzi opera “Time to Move the Money?!”, the Taiwanese opera “The Spoiled Princess,” and the shadow puppet show “Lantern Dances Through Time.” Tickets can be redeemed at the Gangshan Tax Office of the Kaohsiung National Taxation Bureau with invoices from January and February.

The workshop courses feature masters such as Liao Qiongzhi and Wang Anqi. In addition to insightful lectures, there will be hands-on teaching by troupe performers “without holding back.” Each session costs 600 NTD.
