The hidden “Shuanglong Waterfall” in Xinyi Township, Nantou, originally had a “Water Supply Suspension Bridge” for maintenance workers. Earlier this year, the “Shuanglong Suspension Bridge” was completed right next to it and officially opened on April 1, allowing the public to get an up-close view of the majestic beauty of the cliffside waterfall.

The Shuanglong Trail and Suspension Bridge, built at a cost of NT$55 million, features Taiwan’s longest suspension bridge—the “Shuanglong Suspension Bridge.” Known as the “Colorful Suspension Bridge” for its rainbow-like appearance, it spans 342 meters and reaches a depth of 110 meters—nearly 30 stories high—making it the longest and deepest suspension bridge in Taiwan. It brings visitors closer to the stunning beauty of Shuanglong Waterfall and the towering cliffs, with the thunderous roar of cascading water creating an awe-inspiring spectacle.

The Shuanglong Colorful Suspension Bridge is located within the Shuanglong Tribe in Xinyi Township. Due to the lack of large parking spaces and narrow alleys in the tribe, visitors must take a shuttle bus to enter the park. Additionally, there is a daily visitor limit of 1,500 people—800 in the morning and 700 in the afternoon. Park entry tickets must be purchased online, with sales starting on March 18 via the “Nantou Fun” website and app.

Shuanglong Waterfall is situated on the steep cliffs at an altitude of 800 meters, with a drop of 100 meters. The cliffs divide the waterfall into an upper and lower section, resembling two dragons soaring through the sky—an incredibly spectacular sight. The nearby “Water Supply Suspension Bridge” hangs over the rugged canyon and is reserved for transporting drinking water, accessible only to maintenance personnel. The newly built “Colorful Suspension Bridge” is exclusively for visitors.

Shuanglong Waterfall is distributed across three tribes on both sides of the Zhuoshui River in Xinyi Township: Dili, Shuanglong, and Tanan, predominantly inhabited by the Bunun people. The Shuanglong Suspension Bridge enhances the natural landscapes of Shuanglong Waterfall, Heigu Waterfall, Tousha Bay, and Heliping, spanning vast valleys with a thrilling challenge. The well-designed circular trail and viewing platforms are perfect for exploring the forested mountains and experiencing tribal culture.
