Summer is peak season for family travel, but it’s not easy to choose an itinerary that both adults and kids will love. Malaysia boasts a variety of uniquely themed amusement parks, such as Asia’s only “LEGOLAND Malaysia” and Japan’s only overseas Hello Kitty Land, both located in Johor Bahru, Johor. There’s also Sabah and Sarawak, which combine island getaways with eco-tourism, offering unforgettable Southeast Asian charm for visitors of all ages.

The world’s only, sixth-built LEGOLAND officially opened in Malaysia at the end of 2012, featuring seven themed zones, over 40 rides, and a Mini LAND made with 30 million LEGO bricks. The “It’s a Small World” theme song is recreated using 3 million LEGO bricks, showcasing famous Asian landmarks at a 1:20 scale. At LEGOLAND, not only do kids have a blast, but adults can enjoy it too. Hello Kitty Land is the only officially licensed Hello Kitty theme park overseas, directly authorized by Japan. Once inside, you become part of the Hello Kitty cartoon kingdom. The park uses cutting-edge interactive technology to showcase “Black Wonder” with Hello Kitty, allows you to take photos with Hello Kitty and her friends, enjoy stage performances, and create unique, unforgettable memories.

In addition, Malaysia’s islands are blessed with breathtaking scenery, making them a top global destination for island holidays. Especially “Land Below the Wind” Sabah, with its swaying coconut groves, pristine white beaches, and relaxing sunbathing under blue skies and white clouds, always brings a sense of peace and joy. Students especially love thrilling water activities—whether it’s banana boat rides, parasailing, jet skiing, or other gear rarely tried in Taiwan, Sabah’s island resorts can satisfy your craving for an adrenaline rush. Not a strong swimmer but don’t want to just stay on the boat and peer through glass at the underwater world? You can also try Sabah’s popular recent trend: “sea walking.” Just wear an oxygen-filled glass helmet, and you can freely walk underwater, swimming alongside tropical fish and coral in the vibrant marine world.

In recent years, island holidays have expanded beyond beach activities, as travelers increasingly seek to experience more natural beauty. Sabah’s Kinabalu Park features pristine rainforests and a unique ecological treasury, where you can go forest bathing with Malaysia’s iconic proboscis monkeys or spend evenings on riverbanks surrounded by thousands of fireflies. Additionally, Sarawak, known as the “Amazon of Southeast Asia,” boasts distinctive limestone caves, such as the Deer Cave in Mulu National Park, the world’s largest cave that could fit 40 Boeing 747s, and the Southeast Asia’s largest cave, the Clearwater Cave. It has thus been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For more travel information, visit the Tourism Malaysia website: www.promotemalaysia.com.tw.
