Hotel Indigo Lijiang Ancient Town is the first upscale boutique hotel located in Lijiang Ancient Town, which boasts an 800-year history. The hotel features 70 rooms, each with a distinct theme. The Indigo Premium Room is themed around Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, while the Indigo Deluxe Room draws inspiration from horse hooves, with light fixtures and hangers designed in their likeness. Meanwhile, the Indigo Deluxe Suite is inspired by horse bells, and the 360-square-meter Indigo Presidential Suite recreates an old courier station, with various gifts brought along the Tea Horse Road displayed in each room. Other amenities include Me Space (a private lounge), the signature Cha&t tea restaurant and lounge, as well as creatively designed meeting facilities and leisure areas.

Additionally, Hotel Indigo Lijiang Ancient Town serves as a contemporary “courier station” on the Tea Horse Road, warmly welcoming explorers from around the globe. The hotel’s refreshing neighborhood design incorporates elements of Naxi and Tibetan cultures, as well as the heritage of the Tea Horse Road. The surrounding natural landscape also inspires the design, particularly the diverse flora and the snow-capped Jade Dragon Snow Mountain that towers over the ancient town.

Lijiang, also known as Dayan Ancient Town, is famed for its rows of ancient dwellings and picturesque arched bridges and canals. It was once a vital trade hub on the Tea Horse Road connecting Yunnan and Tibet, and remains one of China’s most enchanting tourist destinations. Due to its location at the intersection of Han and Tibetan cultures, the barrier of the Hengduan Mountains and the Tibetan Plateau, along with the challenges of high-altitude climates, deterred merchants from venturing further south. Instead, they gathered goods in Lijiang for distribution, giving rise to a large-scale market and an ideal resting place for caravan traders. The local Naxi people are also known for warmly welcoming visitors with their rich culture, vibrant attire, and delicious cuisine.
