The nationwide first-of-its-kind sound-responsive Bitan Suspension Bridge light sculpture was officially unveiled in late July this year to the lively third movement of Vivaldi’s “Summer” from The Four Seasons, dazzling all who saw it. As the season transitions into December and temperatures gradually drop, to bring out the warmth of Christmas amid the winter chill, not only did the “2013 New Taipei City Christmasland” officially open last weekend, but recently, the Bitan Suspension Bridge has also quietly donned its Christmas attire, gracefully dancing along with the notes of “Christmas Carols.” If you’re looking to experience the festive atmosphere and heartwarming joy of the upcoming Christmas holiday, in addition to joining the various events of the “2013 New Taipei City Christmasland,” starting December 1st, you can also head to Bitan to enjoy the bridge’s light sculpture Christmas show, which performs every hour from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM each evening.

To celebrate Christmas, the Bitan Suspension Bridge light sculpture show uses the most familiar Christmas colors—red and green—as transitional hues, complemented by a variety of other tones including blue, white, red, yellow, pink, and purple. These create scenes of snowy landscapes and vibrant ripples, making you feel as if you’re right in a Christmas setting, and allowing you to share in the joy and warmth through the vivid light show.

When visiting Bitan during the Christmas season, don’t miss the 12-meter-tall (nearly four stories high) Christmas tree located at the East Bank Plaza. Starting December 1st, every evening from 6:00 PM to midnight, the towering Christmas tree will also light up its tree ornaments, with red, orange, blue, and green gradually illuminating to highlight their layered brightness, adding even more romance and warmth to the atmosphere of Bitan.

Besides the spectacular themed light sculpture show and the illuminated Christmas tree, shops in the Bitan Waterfront Commercial Area are also launching the “Christmas · Snow Madness · New Year’s Eve Party” promotion campaign: This includes the “Fans’ Christmas Q-Gifts,” where from December 21–25 and December 31, visitors to Dona Kabana, Chibi Shokudo, Bishuitang, WaterFront, Ramen Prince, and Yakitori Teppanyaki Western Cuisine restaurants can scan the QR codes at the venues to follow their fan pages and post a photo on their social media wall to receive one of two limited-edition gifts. There’s also the “Crazy Christmas Rock-Paper-Scissors,” where from December 24–25, customers who dine at the above-mentioned shops can play an epic game of rock-paper-scissors with Santa Claus, with winners receiving a voucher for a complimentary light snack. Lastly, on December 31st, the Waterfront Commercial Area will host a “New Year’s Eve Wish Party,” welcoming the new year with a night of live luminescent music performances.
