Taipei Guting Flower Field

The Guting Riverside Park, renovated by Taipei City Government’s Department of Rapid Transit Systems, Bureau of Waterworks, features floral carpets designed with wave patterns and the imagery of Hakka terraced fields. The floral arrangements include Cosmos sulphureus, Salvia splendens, and Angelonia, whose graceful curved lines evoke the riverside charm of the park, while their vibrant colors reflect the brilliance and traditional beauty of Hakka fabric.

Yilan Caoling Historic Trail Silvergrass Season

The Northeast Coast’s ultra-popular autumn event—the Caoling Historic Trail Silvergrass Season—is now in its 12th year and will conclude on December 1. This year’s theme, “Dancing Winds and Flying Silvergrass,” extends beyond the trail’s classic 8.5 km route. Special weekend events include “Caoling’s Classic Charm & Creative Costumes,” “Weekly Lucky Draws Along the Trail,” “Tea Served by Shop Assistants,” “Mini Games Along the Historic Path,” “Rubbing & Dough Figurine DIY Workshops,” “Peaceful Porridge Blessings at Dali Tian Gong Temple,” and “Check-in at Lingjiu Mountain for Prizes,” among others. Taiwan’s central region’s most beautiful autumn event—the Xinshe Flower Field—is open now until December 8 at the Second Seed Improvement and Propagation Station Farm in Xinshe, Taichung City. In addition to 30 hectares of stunning floral landscapes, the event has meticulously curated eight themed pavilions: “Orchids You Must See,” “Rice in Every Direction,” “Flowers Blooming with Happiness,” “Happy and Fulfilling Countryside,” “Travel & Lifestyle,” “Green Energy & Forest Living,” “Essence of Herbal Medicine,” and “Leisure Agriculture.” There are also five exhibition areas: “2013 Taichung International Floral Tapestry Festival,” “Prosperity Garden,” “Taichung Agricultural Specialties Marketing Area,” “Famous Stalls & Local Products Marketing Area,” and “Xinshe Agricultural Specialties & Food Area.” Combining the leisurely vibe of Taichung’s mountain-city landscape with the vast floral scenery, the event offers visitors a double delight for the soul and the eyes.
