Taichung’s first “Architecture? Light? Taichung – Shining Century 3D Light Show Spectacular” continues to be a hit!
From mid-November through the end of the year, the show airs every Saturday at 19:00, 20:00, and 21:00, featuring a 16-minute classic light show on the hour at Taichung Prefectural Hall.
In celebration of the upcoming holidays, starting December 14, the “Christmas Edition & New Year Edition” light shows will be screened. Unlike the “Classic Edition,” the story concludes in winter—under a blanket of white snow, starlight falls and transforms into dazzling Christmas tree ornaments. Santa Claus flies over the city in his sleigh, bringing a flurry of gifts that blanket Taichung Prefectural Hall. Icicle-dusted musical notes dance joyfully to the music, golden ribbons twist into a giant two-story Christmas tree, and the walls of the Prefectural Hall glow with colorful lights as they join the public in celebrating Christmas and welcoming 2014.

The current 16-minute “Shining Century 3D Light Show” screening at Taichung Prefectural Hall has been widely acclaimed. Nowadays, every Saturday evening, crowds begin to gather in the square in front of the hall—some with friends, some with family—either sitting on the ground or finding the best viewing spots, all waiting in the relaxed atmosphere of live music and light projections for the main show to begin. Each additional screening is packed to the brim with eager audiences. The positive word-of-mouth continues to spread online, leading to even greater turnout. Taichung Prefectural Hall has become a new nighttime cultural highlight in Taichung.

The extended Christmas version of the “Shining Century 3D Light Show” will be screened every Saturday evening starting December 14, as well as on New Year’s Eve, December 31, at Taichung Prefectural Hall—totaling four additional screenings. Shows are held daily at 19:00, 20:00, and 21:00. Art and culture enthusiasts shouldn’t miss out.
