Nearby countries like South Korea have advantages such as easy access to information and proximity. With frequent exchanges in idol dramas, music, celebrities, cuisine, and culture, the study abroad market has been greatly boosted. In recent years, the “Korean Wave” trend has captured many young hearts, with Korean “oppas” winning over numerous fans, making learning Korean and studying abroad in Korea emerging destinations in recent years.

Since the Korean language is not as similar to Taiwanese languages as Japanese is, most students who want to learn Korean tend to start with language centers. Most Korean language schools are affiliated with universities and are relatively straightforward compared to private language institutes. Most are concentrated in the capital, Seoul. The most popular universities include Seoul National University, Yonsei University, Ewha Womans University, Sungkyunkwan University, and Dankook University. These schools offer regular language courses each quarter, as well as intensive or summer programs during winter and summer breaks.

If you want to quickly improve your Korean proficiency, consider finding a language exchange partner locally. As more Koreans are learning Chinese, teaching Chinese can help enhance your Korean conversational skills. So, it’s worth checking out the bulletin boards at language centers outside of class.

Additionally, South Korea, like Japan, has a working holiday agreement with Taiwan, open tostudents aged 18 to 30, under a visa that allows stays of up to one year.During this time, they can engage in study abroad, part-time work, and travel. However, because the Korean language is quite different from Taiwanese languages, students interested in this option are advised to first learn basic Korean so they can communicate and manage daily life with ease before starting their working holiday.

In addition to language studies, each school in Korea also offers cultural workshops and field trips. Moreover, some schools design different course schedules for students with varying backgrounds and arrange cultural experiences for international students, such as Korean cooking classes or Taekwondo lessons. However, placement in these various courses requires a Korean proficiency test prior to enrollment.
Through learning languages and skills, you can fully experience different cultures and further enrich yourself. For more related information and programs, search “Study Abroad e-Zone” on the App Store.
