As of March 7, Spain has recorded 401 confirmed cases, indicating a trend of the epidemic expanding. The Spanish Ministry of Health specifically reminded the public to pay attention to the developments in the Torrejón area of the Madrid Autonomous Community and the Victoria area of the Basque Autonomous Community. Authorities have announced the cancellation of spectator attendance at several major sporting events.
The Central Epidemic Command Center on March 7 elevated the travel health advisory for these three countries to the second level — “Alert”: travelers to these areas should take enhanced protective measures.
The 19 returning passengers from the Diamond Princess cruise ship have completed 14 days of centralized quarantine and tested negative in three consecutive tests. They were released from quarantine in the early hours of the 7th. Twelve of them left on their own or were picked up by family members, while seven took buses arranged by the Ministry of Transportation at 10 a.m. on the 7th to metro and train stations before heading home separately.
