Every late winter to early spring, when cherry blossom season arrives, thousands of pale pink and double-flowered cherry trees sway along the North Cross-Island Highway, their petals fluttering down in showers. Stretching over 100 kilometers from the Shimen Reservoir lakeside road, Taoyuan Route 118 Roma Road up to Zhongbaling Zhongxing Road, the blossoms create a spectacular “flower rain.” To make cherry blossom viewing along the North Cross-Island Highway more convenient for travelers, Taoyuan City has launched a North Cross Cherry Blossom Viewing Map, highlighting key hotspots for cherry blossom appreciation from early February to early March, making it easier to plan your trip and capture the beauty of falling petals.

Taoyuan City noted that besides the Shimen Reservoir lakeside road and Taoyuan Route 118 Roma Highway, other excellent spots for cherry blossom viewing include the “Cherry Blossom Avenue” in Zhongbaling, Taoyuan Route 118 Roma Highway, Taoyuan Route 119 Cherry Blossom Boulevard, Gaoyi Lan Tribe, Guanghua Tribe, and Dongyue Mountain Forest Recreation Area. Zhongbaling Zhongxing Road is especially considered a sacred site for viewing cherry blossoms amidst the clouds. Visitors traveling to the North Cross during the winter vacation are sure to have a rewarding experience.
