Yayoi Kusama’s first-ever Taiwan tour exhibition, *Dreams I Dreamed: Yayoi Kusama Asia Tour Exhibition – Taiwan*, has drawn significant attention. At the age of 86, Yayoi Kusama, renowned in the contemporary art world for her distinctive polka-dot patterns, is also beloved by fans around the globe. The main sponsor of this exhibition, Taishin Bank, also displayed Yayoi Kusama’s installation work *Footprints of Life* in the Taishin Financial Holding Building during the Lunar New Year period, echoing the Kusama exhibition held in Kaohsiung!

Fifteen large-scale installations of varying sizes, with a peach-pink base color accented by black polka dots, form multiple bold and eye-catching compositions. The vibrant colors complement the elegant design of the Taishin Financial Holding lobby. The works are spread throughout the lobby without any barriers, reflecting Yayoi Kusama’s artistic philosophy—inviting the public to re-examine the everyday public spaces they often take for granted.

Yayoi Kusama’s concept behind *Footprints of Life* was: “I created this work to symbolize the supreme footprints of life. The struggles and joys of the human world, my view of the universe, and my infinite awe and longing for the mystery of the cosmos, as well as the joy that surrounds me with constant inspiration, and the artistic and intellectual journey I have fought through to reach this point.” She once said these visual elements stem from her hallucinations, believing that the dots form an infinitely vast capturing net (Infinity Nets), representing her life. Additionally, Yayoi Kusama has developed her own unique “reproduction” motif, with many of her works featuring formations resembling clusters of mushrooms. Her works reveal an attempt to present autobiographical, deeply psychological, and sexually expressive content.
