Based on the case information described by foreign media, after matching the age (58 years old) and transit information (Adelaide, Australia), a specific traveler has been identified. Epidemiological investigations related to this individual’s itinerary and contacts are now underway.
The investigation found that although the traveler had symptoms such as coughing prior to entry, there was no travel history to epidemic areas, and he showed no symptoms upon entry on February 23. It has been assessed as an overseas infection. During his stay in Taiwan, he rehearsed at the concert hall, sought medical attention at a clinic on the evening of February 27 due to coughing and a runny nose, and then participated in performances at the National Concert Hall and the Performance Hall on February 28 and March 1. He left Taiwan on March 2.
Contacts related to the individual’s itinerary in Taiwan have now been identified. Close contacts (such as staff from the National Symphony Orchestra and those involved in the press conference, as well as journalists who interviewed the man) will undergo 14 days of home quarantine, while other contacts will practice 14 days of self-health management. The National Concert Hall will also be disinfected, and the National Symphony Orchestra has canceled subsequent public performances.
Audience members who attended the concerts were deemed to be at very low risk due to the distance involved, and the CECC advised the public not to be overly concerned.
