The scenic Nantou County has the highest density of skybridges in Taiwan, hence its well-deserved reputation as the “Hometown of Taiwan’s Skybridges.” In recent years, aerial bridges such as the Zhushan Taiji Canyon Stairway, Aowanda Suspension Bridge, Monkey Gazing Well Skybridge, Xinyi Liuli Light Suspension Bridge, and Dragon-Phoenix Waterfall Skywalk have been constructed. These allow every visitor to gaze down at the mountain forests and canyons from above, experiencing a unique side of Nantou’s beauty.

● Monkey Gazing Well Skybridge

The Skybridge is the longest sky stairway in Taiwan, built within the Bagua Valley. Spanning between mountains, it resembles a gentle smile hanging high in the valley — locals call it the “Smiling Stairway.” Stretching 200 meters in length and suspended 70 meters above the valley floor, walking on the Skybridge feels like stepping into the clouds. From here, you can take in the majestic views of the valley. At night, the LED lights adorning the bridge illuminate, creating the most beautiful glowing smile.

● Xinyi Township Pinglai Liuli Light Bridge

The “Liuli Light Bridge” in Nantou’s Pinglai Creek Valley features a 54-meter-long deck made of reinforced glass. Looking down, visitors can admire the scenery of the Pinglai Creek Valley. Walking on the completely transparent glass panels leaves every tourist screaming in thrill.

● Zhushan Town’s “Taiji Canyon Stairway”

The stairway suspension bridge located within the Taiji Canyon of Dalian Village is Taiwan’s first “stepped cable bridge.” With a total length of 136 meters and 208 steps, it hangs dramatically above the Taiji Canyon. The seven-story-high staircase, the breathtaking views, and the surrounding peculiar rocks and cliffs challenge the strength and courage of every visitor. It’s a must-visit hot spot when traveling to Nantou.
