With summer vacation approaching, many young people are opting for work-for-stay as a means of deep travel to experience a unique way of life. Pingtung County has collaborated with 20 hotels and homestays to launch a summer work-for-stay program. Pingtung County stated that to help young students create their own joyful summer, it will announce participating businesses for the work-for-stay program on the “i Pingtung” Facebook official page or through various media channels, and accept applications. A selection event will then be held. Those selected for the program can document their stay experiences in a three-minute video. The top three most popular submissions will receive awards: NT$15,000 for first place, NT$10,000 for second place, and NT$5,000 for third place.

The work-for-stay activity runs from now until May 15, with participating businesses announced on the “i Pingtung” Facebook official page, various media outlets, schools, and accommodation business websites. Young students interested in joining need to fill out information and apply via email. Selected participants will be notified of the meet-up event time via email.

Additionally, starting May 9, visitors to Pingtung can also join the Blackfin Tuna Cultural Tourism Festival. In 2015, themed “Fish Every Year,” the festival offers four themed tours: “Donggang’s Leisurely Waves,” “Colorful Water City, A Culinary Soak,” “Crab Encounter · HiHi Linbian Crescent Bay,” and “Pengwan Secret Realm, Travel with Your Ears.” Community guides will take participants through local culture, gourmet DIY, fishing village games, and ecological awareness, offering deeper insight into coastal life, fishermen’s livelihoods, and marine conservation. Tour costs range from NT$660 to NT$990 per person—fun, engaging, and educational!
