Korean BBQ Brand Saikyagyu Opens in Taiwan

While the craze for Korean BBQ chain Honey Pig hasn’t died down yet, another well-known Korean BBQ restaurant is preparing to enter the Taiwanese market. The "Eight Colors Korean BBQ," which was awarded the "2014 Asian Must-Eat Restaurant Award" by a Hong Kong travel magazine, is set to open its first flagship store in Taipei’s Eastern District, with a debut scheduled for July.

When it comes to Korean BBQ, pork belly is definitely the soul of the dish. At "Eight Colors Korean BBQ," not only is the pork belly delicious, but it also offers diners the chance to try eight different flavors all in one go. The flavors include garlic, red wine, pine needles, herbs, curry, soybean paste, chili paste, and ginseng — eight unique seasonings that will surely satisfy any Korean BBQ fan.

In terms of pricing, Eight Colors Korean BBQ is considered an affordable restaurant in Korea, with an average cost of around NT$500 per person. In addition to pork belly, the store will also introduce beef and lamb options to cater to local tastes. The first Taiwan branch is expected to open in July on a lane along Zhongxiao East Road, with plans to expand to 30 outlets across Taiwan within the next eight years.
