The “2015 Taipei Riverside Music Festival,” jointly created by multiple bureaus and departments in Taipei City, is about to launch. From the Music & Lifestyle Festival at Songshan Xikou Wharf, the Dajia Kids' Fun Day at Dajia Riverside Park, to the Music Valentine's Day at Dadaocheng, there will be exciting events every weekend starting July 25, inviting everyone to gather by the water to welcome the passionate summer.

It all kicks off with the “Xikou Music Lifestyle Festival,” which will run for three consecutive Saturdays starting July 25 (7/25, 8/1, 8/8) from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Songshan Xikou Wharf. The riverside concert will feature a blend of cultural creativity, small-scale farmers, social enterprises, pets, and local Songshan markets, as well as performances by street artists, making the summer riverside both lively and fun. The concert on July 25 at 6:00 p.m. will feature the first Golden Melody Award-winning duo “The Best Friends Duo” and singer Yu Guanhua, who will perform classic folk songs loved by many, sharing nostalgia and joy together. Additionally, on July 25 and August 8, visitors can take free boat rides at Xikou Wharf. There will be one departure each at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 7 p.m., with each hour-long cruise along the Keelung River waterfront. Boarding passes will be distributed on-site on a first-come, first-served basis (each boat accommodates 50 people).

This time, the Tourism and Communications Bureau has also collaborated with Songshan Cihui Temple to launch limited-edition “Blessed Lover’s Locks” for the first time. These locks, blessed by the Goddess Mazu, allow couples to write their promises together and hang them on the “LOVE” installation art by the wharf.

Then, on August 15, the Tourism and Communications Bureau will hold the annual grand “Dadaocheng Music Valentine’s Day” at the riverside park between Gates 3 and 5 of the Tamsui River. The event will feature performances by the Taipei Symphony Orchestra’s affiliated groups and pop singers, fireworks, and a market, ensuring non-stop excitement along the Taipei riverside.

In addition to enjoying music by the river, from now until August 31, you can also join the “Dajia Kids’ Fun Day” at Dajia Riverside Park. The water play area features numerous aquatic facilities (such as single-person water bikes, bumper boats, water slide parks, hand-rowing boats, coconut grove bubble avenues, water rolling balls, hand-rowing boats, etc.), providing a great summer spot for family fun (fees for various facilities vary by item; please check the Water Department’s official website or on-site notices). Starting in August, every Saturday and Sunday, the Sports Bureau will also host the “Crazy Summer Water Fun” experience activity under the Dazhi Bridge, featuring water experiences such as kayaking, canoeing, and dragon boating—welcome families and friends of all ages.
