One new confirmed case was reported in Taiwan on March 1st, involving a woman in her 70s from the northern part of the country. This individual had previously tested positive aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship and was hospitalized after Japanese authorities confirmed her infection. She returned to Taiwan on the 26th and was directly admitted to a negative pressure isolation ward for testing.

The 40th confirmed case wore a mask throughout the flight back to Taiwan. No other passengers were seated within two rows in front of or behind her, and all individuals she had contact with will be carefully traced and tested.
Iran has confirmed 593 cases, with the outbreak rapidly escalating. The travel alert for Iran has been raised to Level 3 — Warning. Non-essential travel is strongly discouraged.
In Iran, the number of COVID-19 (Wuhan pneumonia) cases and deaths has risen sharply, with 43 fatalities reported. Given the increased risk of infection for Taiwanese nationals in the area, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that as of today, the travel advisory for Iran has been upgraded to Level 3: Warning. The public is urged to avoid non-essential travel.
Additionally, the CECC also announced that starting at 00:00 Taiwan Time on March 2nd, individuals who have traveled to Iran within the past 14 days (excluding transit passengers) will be required to undergo 14 days of home quarantine upon entry.
Iran’s pneumonia outbreak has resulted in 43 deaths, the highest number of fatalities outside of China. Community transmission is believed to have already occurred. The country has exported over a hundred cases to 17 nations globally.
In response to the global development of the Wuhan pneumonia outbreak,Taiwan has currently listed Mainland China (including Hong Kong and Macau), South Korea, Italy, and Iran under Level 3 travel warning; Japan and Singapore are under Level 2 alert.Thailand is under Level 1 advisory. The CECC will closely monitor the evolving situation and adjust travel advisories and affected regions accordingly.
Across all 31 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions in Mainland China (excluding Hong Kong and Macau Special Administrative Regions), there have been a cumulative total of 79,824 confirmed cases, with 573 new cases reported compared to the previous day. Among them, 7,365 are in severe condition and 2,870 have died.
Internationally, there have been a cumulative total of 6,567 confirmed cases across 61 countries/regions.The highest numbers of cases are in South Korea with 3,150 (reaching 3,376 by the evening of March 1st, with 20 deaths), Italy with 1,049, international transport (Japan’s Diamond Princess cruise ship) with 687, Iran with 593, and Japan with 242.
There have been 106 deaths among the cases, including 43 in Iran, 29 in Italy, 17 in South Korea (rising to 20 by the evening of March 1st), 6 on the Diamond Princess, 5 in Japan, 2 in Hong Kong, 2 in France, 1 in the Philippines, and 1 in the United States.
