Founded in 1860 in Uji, Kyoto, Japan, the Naruyama brand has expanded beyond its domestic roots to international locations including Taiwan, Singapore, and Shanghai. Overseas, ‘Naruyama Tea Shop’ has become synonymous with premium Uji tea. Five years ago, Naruyama chose Taiwan as its first overseas expansion destination, becoming Taiwan’s first specialty matcha shop. Its design breaks away from tradition with modern elements, making traditional Japanese tea more accessible to younger generations and allowing more tea enthusiasts in Taiwan to enjoy high-quality Japanese tea.

In the past, Naruyama’s overseas store designs aimed to blend the heritage of an old brand with new elements, presenting a modern Japanese aesthetic. However, this Breeze XinYi concept store incorporates more traditional ambiance—such as extensive use of tea chest wall decorations and sunken hearth-style round tables—allowing customers enjoying Naruyama tea to experience the spirit of traditional Kyoto tea culture.

In terms of food offerings, Naruyama also continues the brand spirit of Japanese tea salons. Its most popular afternoon tea set combines all of Naruyama’s fan-favorite items. Customers can choose one dessert each from cakes, ice creams, mochi, and traditional Japanese sweets to create their own personalized tea experience. A relaxing sip of fine tea paired with an authentic matcha dessert makes for a bespoke afternoon tea feast.

Additionally, many light meal options favored by female customers have been added, such as soba noodles and ochazuke (tea-soaked rice), both traditional Japanese dishes. Naruyama presents these in unique flavors that can only be enjoyed at its tea shops. These items are available in limited quantities daily and often sell out quickly. They are healthy, low-calorie, and guilt-free—a great choice for female customers.

As the concept store’s opening coincides with the fifth anniversary of Naruyama’s arrival in Taiwan, the brand is offering a once-a-year buy-one-get-one-free promotion on its popular items. With the opening of Breeze XinYi, Naruyama invites all matcha and Naruyama lovers to come and enjoy.
