These five cases include three medical personnel, one hospital cleaner, and one individual with a travel history to Dubai; their movements and contact histories are now being re-traced, and the ward where the medical staff worked has undergone high-standard disinfection.
In addition, the 33rd case had a travel history in Osaka, Japan, and the attractions they visited there will also be announced.
Minister Chen Shih-chung urged: Avoid unnecessary visits to emergency rooms and the waste of medical resources; the public should refrain from going to hospitals, as maintaining hospital order is crucial.
Since January 15, when “severe pneumonia with novel pathogens” was classified as a Category 5 notifiable infectious disease in Taiwan, more than 16,000 specimens have been tested, contrary to online claims of inadequate testing capacity.
The CECC further noted that to expand testing capacity, the CDC revised the Regulations on Infectious Disease Testing and Testing Institutions on February 11, increasing the number of laboratories meeting safety-grade qualifications. Currently, Taiwan can test around 2,450 specimens per day, with ongoing expansion of testing capabilities.
