Located on the Shueijhihfen Waterfall Trail in Jiaoxi, Yilan, the entrance to the Our Lady’s Mountain Villa National Trail is by the well-known Five Flags Peak Waterfall. With an elevation gain of about 700 meters, it’s slightly challenging, but the view from the top is absolutely worth it. The summit’s viewing platform offers an unobstructed 360-degree panorama—apart from seeing the entire Lanyang Plain, looking toward Pinglin in the distance reveals layers of peaks that look like an ink-wash landscape painting. The scenery is picturesque and utterly enchanting.

Longtan Lake is the largest lake in Jiaoxi and is surrounded by mountains on three sides, covering an area of 20 hectares. Its mirror-like surface reflects the surrounding green hills, creating beautiful scenery. There’s also plenty of space on the vast lawns to sit and relax.

Taipingshan in Yilan was once a hub for forestry, with many forest railways built to transport timber around the mountains. The Jianqing Nostalgia Trail is a remnant of that logging history. Unlike other forest railways and cable cars from the same era, which have mostly been lost to time deep in the mountains, the preserved Jianqing Nostalgia Railway feels like a time capsule.
