The CDC’s Epidemic Command Center announced on the 23rd that it will implement home quarantine and isolation measures along with an improved support service network. Focusing on the tracking and management of those under quarantine or isolation, the center has established a “Local–Home Quarantine and Isolation Support Service Plan,” expected to be launched on March 1.

The Command Center convened a “Local–Implementation of Home Quarantine and Isolation Measures Coordination Meeting” on February 20, inviting local authorities to conduct a comprehensive review of relevant aspects. Discussions covered the command system, horizontal communication among frontline personnel, strategy division of labor, and the establishment of consultation and integration hotlines, aiming to strengthen the home isolation system and provide additional support.
The Command Center further stated that the “Local–Home Quarantine and Isolation Support Service Plan” is being jointly promoted by 22 counties and cities. Key points include care for those affected, medical assistance, transportation arrangements, living support, and hotline services. The plan is expected to be completed by February 26 and will begin operation on March 1 to ensure that individuals under home quarantine or isolation receive comprehensive life, psychological, and medical support. It also aims to encourage compliance with epidemic prevention measures, reduce public opposition toward those under quarantine or isolation, and boost overall confidence in pandemic control.
Individuals under home quarantine or isolation must comply with Articles 48 and 58 of the “Infectious Disease Control Act.” The competent authority may place individuals who have been in contact with infectious disease patients or are suspected of infection under observation.
When necessary, the authority may order such individuals to move into designated locations for examination, administer preventive vaccinations, provide medication, enforce restrictions or quarantines in specified areas, or take other necessary actions. Additionally, measures such as home quarantine, centralized quarantine, isolation treatment, or other required steps may be applied to individuals entering from infected areas, those who have been in contact or suspected contact, or those diagnosed or suspected of having an infectious disease.
Violators of the above regulations may face fines of up to NT$300,000 or NT$150,000, in accordance with Paragraph 1 of Article 67 and Paragraph 1 of Article 69 of the “Infectious Disease Control Act.”
