Japan and South Korea Travel Alerts to Be Raised to Level 2: Seven Regions Issue Wuhan Pneumonia Travel Warnings

Minister of Health and Welfare Chen Shih-chung stated at a press conference on the evening of the 20th that the pneumonia situation in Japan is quite serious, predicting that Japan’s travel alert will likely be raised to level two. He also indicated during a Legislative Yuan questioning session on February 21 that it would soon be announced that both Japan and South Korea will enter the second level (Alert) of travel epidemic warnings.

Due to the spread of the Wuhan pneumonia outbreak, severe cases have been frequently reported across Asia. Currently, mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau have been listed under level three warnings, Singapore under level two alerts, and Japan, South Korea, and Thailand under level one advisories. However, with the frequent reports of outbreaks in Japan and South Korea, many citizens hope the travel alerts can be upgraded to strengthen Taiwan’s prevention efforts against the Wuhan pneumonia virus.
