Private Sunflower Retreat in an Old Hakka House – A Stunning 25-Hectare Cosmos Flower Sea

In late winter and early spring, many vibrant flower seas bloom across southern Taiwan, but this sunflower field in Meinong, Kaohsiung, set against the backdrop of the old Hakka house “Xihe Hall” at the foot of the mountain, is truly memorable. Additionally, Meinong also hosts the “Love Meinong Together” flower sea painting the earth event.

The old house sunflower field in Meinong is on private land. “Xihe Hall” is the family name of a certain Hakka clan in Meinong. Every year around December, the landowner sows sunflower seeds on their property, and by early spring the following year, a vast, dazzling field of sunflowers blossoms — making it a favorite hidden gem for photography enthusiasts.

In front of the traditional Hakka-style three-section compound, the tall, lush sunflower stalks sway gracefully under the sunlight, exuding vitality — as if transporting you back to the simple rural hometown of your earliest memories, your starting point. Nearby, there are also several flower fields planted with blooms such as cosmos flowers, which are often used as cover crops or organic fertilizers during fallow periods.
