Seasonal Limited Golden Rice Wave Scenery: Yilan’s Brawang Boulevard Becomes a Hit

Every year from June to early July is the rice harvesting season
In addition to scenic spots such as Chihshang Brawang Boulevard, Taichung Waipu Valley of No Worries, and Miaoli Chenghan Trail
where you can enjoy the canvas of the earth
here’s another rapidly rising attraction to share — Yilan’s Brawang Boulevard
Located in Sanqi Village, Dongshan Township, with a clear landmark right at the entrance

You can set your navigation to Yilan Brawang Boulevard
or also navigate to Fengzun Temple, parking your car or motorcycle at the temple’s parking lot
and walk about 5 minutes to reach the viewing platform

The Dongshan Township Office has built a 6.5-meter-high photography platform at the entrance
for visitors to climb up and overlook this golden scenery

Open period: June 1, 2017 ~ June 30, 2017
Opening hours: 08:30 ~ 17:30
Originally scheduled for demolition on July 1, 2017, but considering the opening of the Children’s Festival on July 1
and due to it being a holiday, the demolition was postponed to July 3

Climbing up the platform, the fisheye view of Brawang Boulevard
A three-kilometer country road that winds through undulating rice fields
A vast, pole-free scenic beauty

The photography platform is about three stories high, so be careful when taking photos
The second floor offers shade and a cooler experience, though it’s at a lower height
The third floor has no shade, making it hot, but offers a wide and expansive view (the third floor has multiple small platforms for higher angles)

On the left side of Brawang Boulevard, there's a beautiful gradient effect
The golden rice fields indicate crops that are mature and ready for harvest
The yellow-green rice fields indicate crops that are nearly fully mature

The right side of Brawang Boulevard is also almost entirely covered in golden rice waves — a truly healing sight
The blue sky in the background makes the golden scenery stand out even more.

Most rice paddies in Taiwan are second-season crops.
First-season rice is grown from around February to June.
Second-season rice is grown from around August to December.
Before harvest, the rice fields form golden waves of grain.

The straight road, resembling the famous Bangrang Boulevard, gets its name as a result.
Shooting with a telephoto lens
accentuates the curves of the road.

You can also enjoy a distant view of the Lizhijian Bridge over the Dongshan River.
There are many scarecrows in the rice fields
to keep birds away from the crops.
Even in hot weather,
the area attracts many visitors who come to take photos.

There are also some straw figure decorations around the rice fields
that serve as great photo backdrops.

Bangrang Boulevard is only open to pedestrians and bicycles.
Cycling beside the golden rice waves is such a delightful experience.
