New Taipei’s “Pingxi & Shuangxi Mini-Trip” – Explore the Farmers’ Market and Savor Local Organic Ingredients

What other must-see attractions are there in Pingxi besides the old street? This year, the New Taipei City Tourism Bureau has launched the “Pingxi & Shuangxi One-Day Mini-Trip.” In addition to visiting classic sights such as Shifen Waterfall and the Sky Lantern Police Station, the tour also takes travelers to the Shuangxi Farmers’ Market to meet local farmers, learn about fresh produce, and even sample unique dishes made with regional ingredients. Participants can gain a deeper understanding of where their food comes from while enjoying the flavors of local cuisine. Registration opens at 12 PM on May 22.

In recent years, the New Taipei City Tourism Bureau has been promoting the concept of “mini-trips,” encouraging travelers to experience the city’s sights and culture at a relaxed pace, with light travel burdens and rich, insightful experiences. The highlight of this year’s “Pingxi & Shuangxi One-Day Mini-Trip” is the Shuangxi local farmers’ market, where participants can interact directly with farmers, learn firsthand about the cultivation of organic and safe vegetables, and witness the harvesting of seasonal produce. The tour also includes visits to well-known local ecological farms, guided tours of eco-parks, and fun DIY activities that bring travelers closer to nature.

The “Pingxi & Shuangxi One-Day Mini-Trip” costs NT$499 per person, with a limited quota of 2,000 spots. Online registration is open around the clock starting at 12 PM on May 22. The first departure is on June 2, with trips running only on weekdays (Tuesdays to Thursdays). Each group accommodates 40 people, with 2 to 3 groups departing each week, totaling 2,000 spots.
