On August 2, 2013, a convoy set off from Beijing in light rain, embarking on a northbound journey. Their destination was the Kubuqi Desert in Duguitala, marking the official start of this three-day (August 2 to August 4) desert outdoor experience activity.

This "Desert Trek" is the second stop of the "Play Bigger" series of events jointly organized by Danner and Millet, brands under Beijing Gaorun Renhe. The first stop, the "Classic Crossing Event," was successfully completed, adding even more excitement to this trip. The Kubuqi Desert is located in the northern part of the Ordos Plateau in Inner Mongolia and is the seventh largest desert in China. In August, temperatures in the desert are quite high, with daytime highs reaching between 25–30 degrees Celsius on sunny days, while ground temperatures can peak at over 50 degrees in the afternoon. At night, temperatures may drop to around 10–15 degrees, making the environment itself quite challenging for outdoor activities.

Following the theme of "Play Bigger" (Be Bold, Live Big), the organizers arranged a rich variety of activities for this desert trip, combining entertainment and challenges. The goal is not only to allow participants to fully enjoy the fun of off-road adventure in the desert but also to better experience the maximum protection that high-quality outdoor gear provides.

The main activities were held in the Ye Ming Sha scenic area of the Kubuqi Desert, featuring events such as desert hiking, treasure hunts at designated spots, light-shadow art displays, and mobile photography competitions. Participants not only had to endure the desert’s high temperatures and intense sunlight but also needed to understand outdoor survival basics and get creative to successfully complete the various activities. Those who successfully met the activity requirements not only got to experience the products and equipment provided for free during the event but also received additional prizes from the organizers as encouragement.

Currently, the first two stops of the 2013 "Play Bigger" series of events have been successfully completed. Plans for the events in mid-October and late December are already underway. What exciting experiences await us next? We can’t wait to find out.
