With a magnitude of 5.5 on the Richter scale, the epicenter was in Hualien County, 19.2 km southwest. Multiple noticeable earthquakes have occurred over the past two days, with the largest being a magnitude 4.6 quake on the afternoon of the 14th, whose epicenter was in Taitung County, 44.4 km east.
The earthquake on the evening of the 15th was felt almost across the entire country, with fairly long shaking duration that startled many people.
The highest intensity in Hualien area was level 4.
Intensity level 3 was recorded in Yilan, Taichung, Taoyuan, Changhua, Miaoli, and Yunlin.
