The world’s largest eco-friendly whale art installation has officially been unveiled in the Love River. Following the 2018 “the Bruges Whale” in Belgium, the whale sculpture project moves to Kaohsiung, created by SudioKCA environmental artists Jason Klimoski and Lesley Chang, marking the largest installation to date under this initiative.

The reflection of the Whale of Love on the water at night makes it seem as if a fairy-tale scene has come to life.
This full-scale blue whale is made from 15 tons of discarded plastic waste collected by Kaohsiung residents from beaches and rivers, standing seven stories high and weighing approximately 50 metric tons.

The Whale of Love has swum into the Love River.
The “Love River · Whale of Love,” leaping 14 meters above the surface of the Love River, not only adds an elegant and moving line to the skyline but also aims to inspire reflection on the use and disposal of plastic products. By presenting it through the ocean’s largest mammal, the installation highlights the severity of marine pollution.

Environmental artists Jason Klimoski and Lesley Chang spent approximately seven weeks crafting the beautiful pose of the whale leaping into the Love River.
