Where are you planning to go for the upcoming May Day holiday? Those no longer satisfied with just "seeing the sea" domestically have already requested time off early, turning the three-day May Day break into a 4–7 day long vacation to enjoy the ocean on nearby Southeast Asian islands. Reporters have learned that after the Malaysia Airlines incident, more outbound travelers are choosing to visit Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand, Singapore, and Cambodia. Among them, routes to Phuket and Bali have become popular choices for Chinese tourists seeking seaside getaways abroad, thanks to convenient visa policies and budget airfare packages launched by China Eastern Airlines during the May Day period.

According to China Eastern Airlines’ official website, the airline launched a promotional combo product titled “Three People, Clear Waters and Beautiful Scenery – Travel Southeast Asia Together” on April 18. From April 18 to April 30, travelers can purchase select Southeast Asia route round-trip combo packages for three people, operated by China Eastern Airlines on specified dates, with a minimum starting price of ¥1,000 per person via the airline’s official website www.ceair.com. A China Eastern Airlines staff member informed reporters that since the flights depart between May 1, 2014 and June 15, 2014—covering both the May Day and Dragon Boat Festival statutory holidays—the product has received positive feedback from many travelers since its launch.

“My family of three planned to take three days off before May Day to piece together a longer vacation. We couldn’t agree on where to go until we happened to see the Southeast Asia trio round-trip combo on China Eastern’s website. The round trip to Phuket is only ¥1,300, and to Bali only ¥1,800—it’s an incredible deal, so we decided on those two places right away,” Ms. Zhang, who plans to travel with her family over the May Day break, happily told reporters. It turns out she’s not alone; many travelers have made spontaneous travel decisions after seeing China Eastern’s special offer.

Please note that the China Eastern trio round-trip combo products must be purchased at least 7 days in advance. Once tickets are issued, they cannot be endorsed, rescheduled, or refunded. Therefore, it’s important to plan your itinerary carefully to avoid any losses.
