The Feilaixia Scenic Area in Yingde is about a two-hour drive from downtown Guangzhou. Known as the “Canoeing Capital of China,” it is a popular destination for recreation, leisure vacations, and sightseeing.
The Feilaixia course spans 6 kilometers, with a 4.3-kilometer downhill stretch featuring nine twists and eighteen turns of rapid water. The waterway winds through continuous bends, with streams cascading down—sometimes rushing down steep drops, other times gliding gently along. It combines thrills with relaxation. Along the way, visitors can also enjoy picturesque lake and mountain views while listening to the murmuring streams.
To test the adidas climacool BOAT BREE water shoes, we chose this location as the destination for this event.
At 8 a.m. on the 26th, over 50 members of the adidas “Stay Cool on the Go” experience camp gathered at Tianhe Sports Stadium. They were given canyoning gear provided by adidas and prepared to set off. The weather was overcast with rain throughout the journey, and halfway through, everyone’s worst fear came true: Guangzhou was hit by a torrential downpour. If the rain continued, the canyoning activity might be canceled for safety reasons.
By noon, the main group arrived at Feilaixia. Perhaps our sincerity moved the heavens, as the rain eased. Everyone decided to continue the climb, and the adidas Outdoor Exploration Team thoughtfully prepared raincoats for everyone. Due to the heavy rain, the team leader took the lead, marching ahead with a flag to scout the path, while the main group slowly ventured into the mountains.
After walking for some time, the rain gradually stopped, and the mountains were shrouded in mist, creating an ethereal, almost immortal atmosphere. Everyone’s enthusiasm was reignited, and they took plenty of group photos.
As the altitude increased and the group entered the mountainous area, the streams became particularly swollen due to the recent rainfall. The performance of the canyoning shoes was on full display:
An ultra-lightweight shoe body weighing only 212g;
21 drainage holes in the sole provide excellent quick-drying capabilities;
The sole features adidas’ unique Traxion technology for excellent grip.
Of course, the bright color schemes—another adidas signature—made the water shoes a standout highlight of the event.
Wet rocks after rain are among the slipperiest surfaces, often causing lateral slips. The protective design of the adidas climacool BOAT BREE water shoes’ soles allows feet to feel stable and comfortable even on rough rocky surfaces, with no discomfort, and no soreness from soft soles even during long hikes.
