From April 30 to May 3, 2014, the China Land Rover Club hosted a four-day self-driving experience camp in the Kubuqi Desert of Inner Mongolia. This event was co-sponsored by the Canadian high-end outdoor brand Highland Camper and the German eco-friendly fabric manufacturer Sympatex. The entire journey was led by desert off-road experts and well-known automotive figures. According to the leader, the Kubuqi Desert features complex terrain, vast sandy expanses, and a harsh wild environment. Moreover, the desert climate during the event was extreme, with large day-night temperature differences and unpredictable weather, which particularly tested the performance of the adventurers' outdoor gear—equipment with excellent waterproof, windproof, sandproof, and breathable properties was essential to provide Land Rover explorers with absolute safety.
