Even foreigners are fascinated: 1. A stylish inn in an old Beijing courtyard house

Revitalizing old buildings has been a trend in spatial design in recent years. A building in Beijing modeled after a traditional siheyuan (courtyard house) has been transformed into a trendy design hotel. At first glance, the exterior looks like an old mansion, but the interior features a minimalist wooden style, blending retro and modern design elements to create a new 150-ping landmark accommodation spot.

This new design inn, “Hidden World · Dieyuan'er,” was designed by the local Beijing architectural firm Arch Studio. The site was originally a commercial building in the style of a siheyuan from the early Republican era. The spacious residence features a row of arched doors and windows, with a two-story building to the north and a traditional multi-level courtyard that exudes poetic beauty with its deep-set yards—embodying the distinctive charm of Beijing’s hutongs.
