Due to the Diamond Princess’s quarantine loopholes, Taiwan announced that international cruise ships would be barred from docking starting January 7. The SuperStar Aquarius, which departed for Okinawa on January 4 and was originally scheduled to return to Taiwan on January 7, was prohibited from doing so. The ship remained stranded at sea, and passengers filmed videos pleading to disembark and go home. They were later allowed to dock at Keelung Port on January 8, but only after medical personnel boarded and cleared them of risks. If even one passenger needed to be reported, all 1,700+ passengers and crew would have to undergo a 14-day quarantine.
Medical personnel also warned that Taiwan has only 1,100 negative-pressure hospital beds. An influx of too many patients could severely strain medical resources, and they urged against allowing those with infection concerns from epidemic areas to return to Taiwan in large numbers.
The following are the attractions visited by Diamond Princess passengers on January 31. However, as each passenger’s route varied, those who have recently been to these attractions are reminded to watch for any respiratory infection symptoms.

The above was investigated by an investigation team formed by the CDC, which completed a preliminary epidemiological survey on the 6th to understand the cruise ship’s docking and passenger disembarkation routes and environment that day, as well as to classify and identify close contacts, and track the itineraries of disembarked passengers; a complete list has been obtained for those who did not leave the country with the ship that day, and they have all been placed under 14-day home quarantine and health monitoring.
